True North Geographic Technologies is an award-winning GIS consulting and services company based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. We are a Gold Partner in the Esri Partner Network (EPN) and have recently been recognized as one of the first six partners in the EPN to receive the ArcGIS for Local Government Specialty designation. In 2010, we were selected by the Esri/Charlotte regional office as the Partner of the Year for the southeast.

Our services experience spans all areas of local government, including land records, public safety, public works and utilities. We excel in working with local GIS staff to maximize the existing hardware, software, and financial resources that are available while providing guidance and strategies to grow the local GIS program through budget and new technology planning. We also provide the skills and expertise to integrate other local government data systems with GIS.

Jefferson-Cocke County Utility District (JCCUD) is a small public utility serving 7300 natural gas customers with annual sales reaching 2.6 bcf per year. We are the proverbial small guys when it comes to utility districts.  We deployed GIS technology in 2005 with the initial goal of mapping our below ground valves and distribution system. We did not truly appreciate the technology or what an asset it could be for our utility. We quickly developed a relationship with True North Geographic Technologies that has truly taken us to the next level. David and the staff at True North have provided a level of customer service that is unmatched. From helping to develop the next step in our GIS growth to answering questions on the functionality of ESRI’s software, the True North staff is always there to provide leadership, assistance and encouragement. With their guidance JCCUD bought into the SUELA and has not looked back. They have been and will continue to be the most valuable asset in our further development of a truly enterprise GIS system.

MSD has had the great success at winning two prestigious awards in 2011 for our MSD Flex Viewer application.  The first award was given by the NC GIS Conference and was the Herb Stout award.  The second was the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award from ESRI.   While MSD has implemented this application, the success of the project is in no small part due to partnering with True North Geographic Technologies, Inc. out of Murfreesboro, TN.

This pairing has been so successful due to MSD’s assertive jump into utilizing new technology to support business workflows and True North’s expertise in providing new technology solutions in a flexible and affordable way.  Our support from True North comes in the form of quick, iterative projects and ongoing maintenance support.  Management at True North is always quick to suggest time savings and hardware/software recommendations that fit our needs and budgets.  Technical staff is extremely knowledgeable, easy to get along with, and fast at completing projects.

We at MSD are proud of what we have been able to accomplish with the support of True North Geographic Technologies and look forward to the progress ahead.
